"The best powder mountain in North America" - Powder Magazine
With 1250 acres of skiable terrain and 400 metres of vertical drop, Whitewater is not for the faint-hearted. What is more, the backcountry terrain accessible from the lifts at the resort is second-to-none. Whitewater is a mountain for real skiing or snowboarding purists. The mountain is 20% beginners, 40% intermediate and 40% expert - steeps and deeps, gladed areas, chutes and bowls but also plenty of cruisers for practicing technique. Skiing or snowboarding in such an environment for eleven weeks under the guidance of highly qualified ski and snowboard instructors will ensure that your skills on the slopes improve to an extent you never thought imaginable. Especially as lift-queues are non-existent so you will have the slopes and the powder all to yourself!
And to cap it all, the average winter temperature is a not-so-harsh -8C. Perfect for maintaining the champagne powder but not too cold so you can not enjoy it!
Whitewater is not the type of resort that goes for gimmicks like revolving mountain restaurants, but the food and the hospitality on the mountain is second-to-none. Shelley Adams, co-owner of Whitewater Ski Resort, has published the now-famous "Whitewater Cooks" cook-book after years of keeping her awesome recipes secret. You can sample her mouth-watering dishes first-hand when you pay a visit to the Fresh Tracks Cafe! My recommendation is the Fancy Pants Burger and Yam Fries...!
After the last run of the day, Snowpros will often hit the Coal Oil Johnny's Pub for a warm welcome and a cold beer. But folks, that is about it for Whitewater. If you want some real fun into the night, head for Nelson...!
